Selected Projects

  • Watershed Assessments and Stormwater Permit Support
    Frederick County, Maryland
  • Fort Lee Watershed Management Plan
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District

Versar assisted Fort Lee, a rapidly expanding U.S. Army installation, by identifying and developing solutions to address storm water impacts to natural resources. Versar performed field surveys, estimated runoff quantities, and conducted GIS analysis to identify storm water impacts. Versar also prepared a Watershed Management Plan to guide future development and prioritize watershed restoration and maintenance opportunities that would improve water resources.

  • Middle River Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan
    Baltimore County, Maryland

Versar developed a comprehensive water quality management plan for the Middle River watershed. Versar's plan will assist the county in identifying and evaluating storm water pollution, and in determining management measures for the reduction of non-point source pollution and for water dependent uses. Versar used a planning-level version of the USEPA's Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) to assess the runoff and loading characteristics of sediment, nutrients, metals, BOD, and COD from the Middle River watershed. The plan also offers a watershed restoration framework for the county's Capital Improvement Program.

  • Maryland Statewide Stream Assessment and Development of Ecological Indicators
Maryland Biological Stream Survey, Maryland Department of Natural Resources
  • Stormwater Monitoring
    Montgomery County, Maryland

Versar has been supporting Montgomery County, MD for five years. Versar has assisted the county in complying with its NPDES permit, by conducting storm and baseflow sampling at outfall and instream sites in the County's special protection areas; rainfall monitoring in selected watersheds; and Stormceptor efficacy studies. Using ISCO automated water samplers, Versar boasts a 95% success rate for sampling required monthly storm events over the last four years.

  • Monitoring Nutrient and Sediment Loads
    Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
  • Stormwater Permitting
    Letterkenny Army Depot, Pennsylvania

Under contract to the USACE, Versar prepared an individual permit application for the Letterkenny Army Depot. With the 1,000-acre facility, Versar delineated drainage areas, selected sampling sites, and set up numerous automated sampling stations. The successful NPDES permit application lead to the development of a storm water pollution plan for the depot.

  • Identification of Target Restoration Sites in Buffalo Creek Watershed, Pennsylvania
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District
  • Identification of Target Restoration Sites in Barnegat Bay Estuary
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District
  • Money Island Upland Planting Project
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District
  • Wetlands Mitigation Plan, Wyoming Valley, PA
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District
